Monitor

The Easy PC View System incorporates a professional quality LED backlit 8 inch LCD panel that has high brightness (450nits) and contrast (500:1) to make sure it is readable in bright ambient light conditions experienced in the Aussie outdoors. The performance of cheap 8 inch monitors available from most on-line retailers (that are next to useless when used in a car) cannot be compared to this high quality one. Native resolution of the monitor is 800x600 pixels (recommended resolution to be used), and it can operate at 1024x768 pixels also.

The monitor has 3 RCA Video inputs, 2 Sound Channels, 1 VGA, and USB for the touchscreen. The image from a camera connected to Video 3 will display automatically when the camera is powered on. All the connections to the monitor are integrated into the one neat cable arrangement to reduce clutter in the cockpit of your 4WD! The cable can be quickly disconnected from the monitor via a captive quick disconnect fitting, allowing the monitor to be removed from the boom quickly and hidden under the seat for security if required. The monitor is powered from a 12v cigarette lighter plug which is supplied in the package.

The monitor also has a light sensitive diode on the bottom right corner which automatically detects darkness and dims the monitor to suit. This means that at night, the monitor automatically dims to the lowest pre-set setting so that it is not distracting to the driver - a very good safety feature of this high quality unit and one that is essential for use at night.

On the rear of the monitor, there is a 4 point VESA mount moulded into it (75mm x 75mm with 4 attachment points) to which Aussievan's aluminium monitor mounting bracket attaches via stainless steel socket head screws. This is a sturdy attachment system that is strong yet light in weight, and it is one that keeps vibration off-road to a minimum. The monitor mounting bracket bolts to a metal ball mount that allows the monitor to pivot in every direction. The clamping pressure of the ball joint is adjustable via an easy to use thumbscrew.

Monitor Mounting Boom

The flexible mounting boom is made of powdercoated industrial flex and then covered in a flexible plastic tube for neatness and that 'factory look'. The monitor is able to pivot 180° on top of the mounting boom so that the passenger can easily view it as well as the driver. The boom is attached to the right hand side passenger seat bolt via a universal mounting bracket of Aussievan's own design which is suitable for most cars, SUVs and 4WDs. 

Seat-back Notebook PC bag

We have designed a special bag to store the notebook securely on the back of the passenger seat whilst driving. The bag has two pockets, one for the notebook, and one for the 12volt power adapter and each can be held closed with the Velcro sewn in to the opening edge. Each pocket has a cut-out in it to allow the routing of cables to the power source and monitor, and the connection of other accessories like a GPS receiver.

The seat-back bag is made of UV resistant high quality synthetic materials that resist stretching. The front pockets of the bag are made in a high strength mesh that allows the notebook's processor fan to breathe and expel hot air through it. In this way, it protects the notebook from overheating.

The bag attaches to the seat by straps with quick release tension buckles, one of which goes around the base of the seat, and the other around the headrest posts. These can be adjusted to suit any size seat, so the bag is truly a universal fit.

Miniature USB GPS Receiver with SIRF III Chipset

The BD-52 Miniature USB GPS receiver is fully waterproof and has a rugged plastic case with a magnetic underside that sticks to the the roof of any vehicle made of steel, putting it in the perfect position to receive GPS data. It has an in-built Serial to USB bridge which eases installation, meaning only a small USB driver needs to be installed on the notebook PC.

Reversing Cameras

The Easy PC View System can be mated with any of Aussievan's reversing cameras to provide an integrated solution. For the rear of a 4WD vehicle we recommend the Miniature Number Plate Camera BD-31 and for the rear of a caravan, the BD-32 Night and Day Infrared Camera.

The Easy PC View touch screen monitor has three RCA inputs, which allows a maximum of three reversing cameras to be attached to it. RCA Input 3 on the monitor is automatically displayed if the reversing camera attached to it is powered up, which makes this the ideal way to automatically display the reversing camera picture when reverse gear is selected in the vehicle.
